  1. I must admit that KSP is not the best tool to plot your travel route. I still get confused when my GPS tells me to burn prograde for 30 seconds. And I haven’t yet figured out how to orient my car in the antinormal direction on a highway.

  2. Wait, what? Missing the greatest privately held bookstore in the land, and passing Portland, Oregon over as if we didn’t exist?

    Bah!

  3. It is too bad that you’re spending so much time in the worst parts of California.

  5. What if the entire inland area of the country disappeared, leaving only the East and West coasts?

WE WOULD ALL DIE HORRIBLE DEATHS, that’s what. You KNOW that. So why did you plan your tour as if it had already happened?

  6. Skipping the whole southeast? 😦 Can’t you manage to come within a couple of states of me? Overnight travel is not out of the question; going to the diagonally opposite corner of the country is, though.

  7. I can’t believe you won’t come do an event here on the International Space Station! So offended.

  8. You bunch of USAcentrics. What about the rest of the world? Why not New Zealand, New Guinea and New York. Besides, Book tours are cheap just go to your nearest post office and send a book to a nominated place for a small fee.

  10. While I will be seeing you in Boston, because I’m in Boston, I wonder if you’d get much love in Huntsville, AL? Highest concentration of Ph.D.s in the country (I think). NASA’s Marshall Spaceflight Center, and all.

  13. Ah, figures you wouldn’t visit America’s dick. If I had the money and time, I’d take a vacation from Florida and come to one of the locations.

  15. I second the Huntsville Alabama nomination! Tons of nerdy engineers and true rocket scientists that would love to come out and support you!

  16. Count me disappointed as well that you’re skipping the entire interior of the country. Madison, WI probably wouldn’t make your list even if you were visiting, but no Chicago? No Twin Cities?

  20. Judging by the comments above people clearly want you to stop at all of the places (can’t really blame them). Sounds like a what if question for you. “How long would your book tour take if you stopped at every major city across the world?”

  21. I bet if you checked where most of your merchandise sales go, Raleigh/Durham would be high enough on the list to warrant a visit.

  22. Vegas Baby!!! It’s only 115 F today… but it’s a dry heat… You know, like a pizza oven. Also, for the guy that wants to “orient my car in the antinormal direction on a highway”, You got it right when the car is upside down and rotating counter clockwise on it’s roof (as viewed from above). Not sure this should be tried in a convertible… but I assure you it is an antinormal orientation.

  24. Is the gravitational slingshot the reason for bypassing the Midwest? I understand it would be a shame to waste all that momentum, but I am disappointed still here in Chicago.

  25. If the slingshot goes awry, feel free to land in Canberra, Australia.Southern hemisphere options are always good for a Plan B.

  27. Ack, Seattle, so close yet so far. I could justify a selfish trip to Portland from Salem with my very pregnant wife and 2-year-old son, but not one all the way up that far into Washington. Sadness eternal!
