Even if some of us* _are_ “dirt clod throwing”, “banjo playing”, and “lard fried”, you should still come visit. Charlotte NC.
*Note: I promise to not throw dirt clods at you or anyone else, nor will I subject you to any banjo playing since I don’t own and can’t play a banjo (although I do think it would be fun to learn). I will however be glad to take you to the many places where the lard fried food is excellent.

I saw Cambridge and for a a second or two I got excited before realising that it’s obviously THAT Cambridge.

Come home to Hampton Roads. We love you!

You could swing by Southern Oregon (likely Medford, specifically) on the morning of September 10th. It’s right between Seattle and San Francisco. Sure, you might have a direct flight but we even have an airport that flies to both of those cities! You could do a “Breakfast with Randall” at the local Barnes and Nobel or Southern Oregon University down in Ashland.
Just sayin’ . . .

You would be more than welcome in Minneapolis. Plenty of nerds and geeks here (and yes, the distinction between the two is important to us).

Hi,
Are you considering crossing to the north of the wall and visiting Canada?
We wait you at ON.

I second the request for stopping in Minneapolis! Heck, you are skipping the entire middle of the country! Wonderful culture here for both nerds and geeks. 🙂

C’mon, please: Germany. Or at least some country not divided by a hectozillion tons of salt water (and yes, I know, this is not one scientifically approvable definition. We can discuss that in person – when you’ll be booktouring in the old world, over here).
Make a somehow grown-up girl happy.
Oh well: Thanks, at any rate…

Going from New York to Seattle is a HUGE jump, considering most the the US is between.

Come for the books, stay for the beer, food, weather (little-known fact: Portland in September is glorious; warm, sunny, and cloudless), and Fred & Carrie.
I lived in Cambridge for 12 years and still miss it, but Portland in September is better.

I know better than to say that I wish you were stopping somewhere in the Michigan/Indiana area, because I know we get missed by all this kind of stuff, but I will hope that I can see you in the night sky as you slingshot around NY, since that may bring you as close as anyone gets to the Midwest.

Macon, Ga. is the birthplace of the kazoo. I’m certain that fact will cause you to alter your itinerary appropriately.

I second Germany. Berlin, to be more specific 🙂 Since there is a German translation of your book, why not have the publisher house fly you over so you can see with your own eyes how everybody here wears Lederhosen all the time (even girls), synchronously playing foosball and drinking beer (while commuting to work).

I have to second Nick’s request. Please come to Charlotte! I can also promise that there will be no banjo playing from my household, and will bring cookies.

If you don’t come to Texas, I’ll….well, I’ve got nothing to hold over you.
Wait: I’ve got it! I’ll walk the long path around parking lots from now on, is what I’ll do!

If it’s a paid tour, then the schedule is completely fixed and essentially immutable. If so, it makes me sad. And you should negotiate for more of the middle of America with the next book.
If possible, please visit the middle of America. I’m in St. Louis and that’s sometimes a stopover. The person advocating Chicago has a better chance, as flights tend to go through there more than St. Louis.
But going with the coastal meme is ignoring what I suspect is the majority of your readers, and won’t play out well in the long run…
Best of luck with the book!

Unfortunately it seems I will not be able to occupy the same space-time coordinates as any of your tour stops.
I’ll be sure to tune into your live show though. You got a good moderator, I am a big fan of Hank Green’s work on Youtube.

Well, since we’re all making silly requests, I say come to Springfield Missouri. There would probably only be three of us (me, my friend, my brother), but I make some pretty good tea and a mean chicken cordon blue (I light it on fire, it’s the fire that makes it taste good. I mean, why not flambé chicken wrapped ham and cheese?)

While you’re in the neighborhood (more or less), you should stop by Richmond, VA. Our town has some major universities, some others are just down the road, and we have a thriving arts/crafts/techie scene. Good food, too! Could probably get you free space at the Science Museum of Virginia, which is probably the coolest place in town!
